Last Day Comes To DVD Dec. 13
The much talked about French film The Last Day is coming to DVD on December 13th. The film, released by Strand, has garnered much attention. DVD Confidential has the inside scoop on this indie feature.
"Sexual truths emerge on the French seaside in “The Last Day,” a haunting and lyrical story of unrequited love. Strand Releasing Home Video will debut “The Last Day” on DVD, streeting December 13th.
From the director of “Love Forbidden” and starring Gaspard Ulliel from “A Very Long Engagement,” “The Last Day” focuses on 19-year-old Simon who unexpectedly returns to his family home on a gorgeous but secluded island with Louise, a young stranger he literally just met on the train the night before. His relationship with his parents and sister, as always, is in turmoil, but at least he has a special bond with his mother. She seems to understand Simon’s peculiarities – his art school studies, his turning up out of the blue with someone he doesn’t know.
Simon also takes refuge in his oldest friend, Marc, whose attraction to Louise is instant – and reciprocated – much to Simon’s dismay. In fact, Marc becomes more distant with Simon as his nocturnal escapades with Louise heats up. When a telephone call rattles everyone’s temperaments and emotions, Simon seems to have the greatest burden…and the darkest secret. It’s on this most unexpected of family visits that Simon is forced to face the truth about himself.
“The Last Day,” which was an Official Selection at the Seattle and Rotterdam Film Festivals, and the San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York Gay & Lesbian Film Festivals, is written and directed by Rodolphe Marconi. The cast also includes Nicole Garcia, Melanie Laurent, Bruno Todeschini, Alysson Paradis, Thibault Vincon and Christophe Malavoy."
